Daphnia Sp. Magna are fast becoming one of the most popular live foods for freshwater aquarists due to their dense nutrition profile, ease of care and it's ability to survive in the freshwater. Therefore it has worked as a great alternative to BRINE SHRIMP that only survive for a few hours in freshwater. 

Daphnia Magna are the largest species of daphnia, reaching 5mm in size. 

Order will contain the following: 

  • Daphnia Sp. Magna culture (size options: 350ml or 700ml)
  • 2 week supply of daphnia food 

All our daphnia are raised in closed indoor systems (greatly minimises pests) and fed on natural greenwater, algae and live microorganisms. 

AQUABYTES- Daphnia Magna will comprise of mixed sizes containing adult and newly-hatched daphnia from the order.

I was worried I'd killed them, but they are breeding like crazy.

My delivery of this arrived promptly. The esky box was damaged in transit, but thankfully, the culture was well-packaged and not damaged.
I followed the instructions regarding set-up from the Aquabytes PDF (I divided my culture in half in case I killed one).
At first I thought I'd killed both halves because I couldn't see any movement. However, after two weeks, the daphnia have bred prolifically and I'm almost ready to start harvesting.
One helpful addition would be to have a print out of the instructions and dosage for the algae powder in the box (for first-timers like me).
