Who We Are
Aquabytes was founded by a hobbyists with a deep seated history in aquatic fish keeping, breeding and disease management from a young age. Aquabytes is dedicated to providing aquarists with 100% indoor-raised live foods and high quality dried forms of fish feed for freshwater, marine and coldwater species.
We began our first ever aquatic breeding project began with the humble guppy from his local aquarium shop, which then kickstarted his fascination into breeding notoriously harder to breed ornamental fish species. Despite his successes initiating the breeding phase, the greatest challenge began with actually raising the fry past the survival stage. Fish fry are extremely vulnerable after the hatching stage and require special attention to water conditions, immunity but especially feeding. Starvation for fish fry was one of the biggest factors for fry mortality due to the grey area around optimal nutrition (example: minimal protein, fat, carbohydrate content), choice of feed and hesitation around overfeeding.
In 2018 , Aquabytes entered the home aquarium market by supplying clean live foods to only a handful of dedicated fish breeders who needed a reliable and consistent source of nutrition to keep their fry alive. Overtime, the client base began growing and the business needed to upsize the facility to meet those demands. Today it has an indoor system that is both efficient and productive enough to sell to aquariums across Sydney and interstate.
